In part 2 of our series on Trip Planning for Truck Driving School Students we are looking at the basic principals needed to track your trips. In truck school this issue is discussed and often called the key to making more money. We wanted to provide a few tips to help you track your trips so that you can meet the goals of a profitable well planned trip.



If you have a tank endorsement, for example, you have been trained on how to handle a tank JD Truck Training Centre. This opens up many job opportunities that you wouldn't have had otherwise.

Many of the better private schools will have a wide range of training including several weeks of practice at backing up the truck, classroom coverage of everything from log books to maps and routing to air brakes and vehicle inspection. They will also have several weeks of training out on the local roadways. Make sure they will give you the necessary training to get ALL of your endorsements including hazmat, tankers, doubles and triples, and people (buses). Make sure you get ALL of these. It only requires a very short written test and can also severely limit your job opportunities if you leave them out.

I don't know anyone who can claim to be an expert on Truck driving schools or the best method to pay for your Truck driving school! The fact is most people have only gone to one trucking school and if for some reason they have gone to more than one I would stay clear of them!

These bonuses are common at the larger trucking companies. Sure they HOPE you're gonna be an outstanding truck driver, but more than anything they just desperately need your butt in one of their trucks. Period.

The schooling began with nothing but classroom study for the first week or two. If you decide to attend driving school at a HR Truck Licence company....let the propaganda begin! They won't waste any chance at promoting themselves, believe me. They will also make you feel like it is your privilege to be working for them. Get used to that. Now here's your first piece of raw truth about the industry... companies are completely and totally desperate for truck drivers. I mean Truck licence DESPERATE!

From the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico, high and low, I've been there. From Puget Sound to the shores of Miami I've driven a big truck. From Boston to San Diego I've gone. I've been on four lanes, three lanes and one lane at times. I've seen the cities and countryside. I see all those vehicles and wonder where they're going and why they're in such a rush to get there?

In any case, CDL training in the yard might consist of spending hour upon hour practicing highly specific maneuvers on a course with cones and lines. Or it might be spent learning how to shift and turn and control your speed. It could even be something in between. It's all a matter which state you're in.
